Hyderabad: An alleged plan to assassinate Excise and Tourism Minister V Srinivas Goud was foiled with the Cyberabad Police arresting 15 persons here on Wednesday.
According to the police, two fire arms and ammunition were also seized from Nagaraju, Yadaiah and Vishwanath, all three from Mahabubnagar, who had allegedly approached one Farooq on February 25 in a lodge in Suchitra Junction, where they offered him Rs.15 crore to kill the minister.

However, differences over the deal cropped up between them and they are said to have attempted to attack Farooq, who then approached the Petbasheerabad police.
Cyberabad Police Commissioner M Stephen Raveendra said Nagaraju, Yadaiah and Vishwanath were taken into custody in connection with the attack on Farooq, and they confessed to the assassination conspiracy during questioning.
As part of investigation, the Call Data Record of other suspects, Raghavender Raju, Madhusudhan and Ravi, was checked and their location was traced to the servant quarters of a BJP leader and former MP in Delhi, from where they were arrested, Stephen Raveendra said.
“It was found out that they were provided shelter in the quarters by the MP’s personal assistant. Their arrest has brought out more details on the murder plot,” Stephen Raveendra said, adding that the role of the former MP and another national BJP leader would be probed.
“Since we had to produce the arrested persons before the court on February 27, detailed enquiry could not be done. We will file a petition before court seeking their police custody. More details will be extracted during the custody,” the Commissioner said, also pointing out that the source of money, motive and key conspirators was yet to be known while it was found that the firearms were procured from Uttar Pradesh.
The Minister was informed about the incident and the arrest, he added.
