Hyderabad: ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ trailer is filled with remarkable performance of Alia Bhatt worth admiration. This looks like the stellar role paves the way for establishing her as the queen of Bollywood. To our absolute surprise, the actor has delivered an incredible performance by camouflaging into challenging character of Gangubai Kothewali – sex worker from Mumbai’s red light area Kamathipura, who transformed into a political figure in the 1960s in the city.
This is one power-packed performance by Alia. She is mind-blowing in all the frames. And, what a screen presence it is. Playing the most challenging character of her career, she is commendable. One word to describe Alia from this interesting trailer is – flawless. With pain in her eyes, passion in her voice and power in her body language, she has grabbed and owned a milestone film for herself. Her style, attitude, heavy matured voice are just awesome. And, her expressions are top notch that you will get a sense she has lived the role in the movie. Dialogue delivery is so impressive and acting fabulous, this is without doubt going to be the best movie of Alia’s career so far.
Alia Bhatt looks very young to do this role but she has given her best and is simply extraordinary in all frames. Owning the raw emotions of all the scenes, Alia has effectively turned her role the best for her, given that she has so many bright iconic moments in the film, all set to be a big-ticket blockbuster.
The very short cameos of Ajay Devgn as underworld gangster Karim Lala, and Vijay Raaz as Raziya Bai, who does not let go of dominance over Kamathipura, are intriguing as well. Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s movie is destined for greatness as the trailer turn out to be outstanding. It is also magnificent on account of its visual effect.
The period drama, produced by Bhansali and Jayantilal Gada’s Pen Studios has been adapted from one of the chapters of author Hussain Zaidi’s book, ‘Mafia Queens of Mumbai’. Gangubai was one the most powerful, loved and respected madam from Kamathipura during the 1960s. The film is set to hit the theatres worldwide on February 25.
