Karimnagar: BC Welfare and Civil Supplies Minister Gangula Kamalakar called upon the people on Tuesday to extend their support to the weaving community by wearing handloom clothes.
The Minister was speaking after inaugurating the State Handloom Expo-2022 (handloom clothes exhibition cum sales) organized by handlooms and textiles department at Sri Rajarajeshwara Kalyana Mandapam here. “To encourage weavers, a State level handloom cloth exhibition has been organized in Karimnagar. Everyone must wear handloom clothes to extend support to the weaving community,” he emphasized.
Handlooms and Textiles regional deputy director, Ashok Rao said the exhibition, which will be open from 9 am to 9 pm every day, will continue till March 14. He asked the people of erstwhile Karimnagar district to visit the exhibition and purchase clothes so that weavers will be gainfully employed.
Assistant director, Karimnagar, Sampath appealed to the people to support the financial growth of the weaving community by wearing handlooms.
While 40 stalls have been established to display handloom clothes produced in Telangana, 20 stalls have been allocated for handlooms from other States.
APCO former director Satyanarayana, TSCO DMO O Janardhan, handlooms association president Ramachandram, and others participated in the programme.
