Karimnagar: Karimnagar MLA Gangula Kamalakar condemned the police attack on Huzurabad MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy. He wanted the government to take action against the police personnel who attacked the MLA as well as the dalits who were protesting.
Kamalakar, who visited Kaushik Reddy in hospital in Karimnagar, asked what was wrong in protesting when the State government had denied the dalits their rightful financial assistance. Even when they were protesting peacefully, the police attacked the MLA and the dalits, some of whom were injured, he said, also stating that some of the dalit protestors were kicked by the police.
This sort of violent culture was never witnessed in Telangana, he said, demanding that the Chief Minister and Speaker respond to the incident and take action against the guilty police personnel. It was the responsibility of the Speaker to protect the rights of MLAs, he said.
