Ganja smuggler nabbed after scooter crash in Sarapaka

Kothagudem: A road accident involving a two-wheeler at Sarapaka centre in Burgampahad mandal in the district on Monday led to the arrest of a ganja smuggler from Andhra Pradesh.
According to police, two individuals were transporting marijuana on a scooter from Sileru in ASR district towards Jaggayyapet of NTR district in Andhra Pradesh. On seeing the police near Sarapaka they attempted to speed away but lost control and fell.
The pillion rider, Gooti Nagaraju escaped from the scene while the vehicle driver, Kanneganti Eshwar Gopinath of Jaggayyapet mandal was caught by police with the help of the locals. The arrested person confessed to police they were transporting 15 kg ganja worth Rs 7.65 lakh to Jaggayyapet.
In another incident in the day at Paloncha the excise enforcement team seized 7.4 kg of ganja being transported on a motorcycle from Odisha to Paloncha. Three accused, Gollpalli Sambasiva Rao, Bhukya Srihari and Pothula Chinna of all residents of Paloncha were arrested and handed over to the local excise station. The seized ganja was worth Rs 3.50 lakh.
