Kothagudem: Police seized dry ganja worth Rs 1.2 lakh and arrested two persons at Manugur in the district. An auto rickshaw and two mobile phones were also seized.

In a statement, ASP Dr. Shabarish P on Saturday informed that SI Purushotham and staff conducted vehicle inspections at Hanuman temple area on Friday evening. Two persons travelling in an auto rickshaw stopped the vehicle and tried to run away on seeing the police.

Police caught and questioned them during which they confessed to have purchased six kg of ganja at Bhadrachalam to sell to a few persons at Manugur. The accused, Saketh of Narasapuram in Dummugudem mandal and Kandi Prem Kumar of Shakthi Nagar in Aswapuram mandal, were sent to judicial custody.

The ASP appealed to the people to alert police if they have any information about ganja smuggling. The details of informants would be kept confidential.
