Khammam: Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar directed the education officials to gear up for reopening of schools and colleges in Khammam district.
In the wake of the decision taken by the State government to run classes for 9th and 10th classes, intermediate and degree colleges from February 1, the Minister held a meeting with the officials late on Tuesday evening to review the arrangements for the reopening of educational institutions here.
Speaking on the occasion, he suggested cleaning up the premises of private and government schools and colleges as they were shut for about 11 months following the coronavirus pandemic.
Similarly, arrangements have to be made for offering mid-day meals and hostel facilities to the students and old stocks of food items should not be used in preparing mid-day meals. Facilities like drinking water and toilets have to be restored, he said.
Every school and hostel must follow covid-19 guidelines. The headmasters and principals have to ensure that social distance must be maintained and every student wears face masks while attending the classes.
Thermometers and pulse oximeters should be made available at all educational institutions. If any student was found to be suffering from fever and any other sickness he or she should immediately be taken to government hospitals for treatment, Ajay Kumar noted.
Collector RV Karnan told the educational officers and social welfare officials to start making arrangements at SC, ST and BC hostels for the stay of the students. No inconvenience should be caused to the students, he added.
ZP Chairman L Kamalraj, Additional Collector (Local Bodies) Snehalatha Mogili, Municipal Commissioner Anurag Jayanthi, District Education Officer Madanmohan and representatives of private educational institutions were present.
