Mahabubabad: Stating that BJP MPs from Telangana had failed to ensure that promises made to the State in the AP Reorganisation Act are fulfilled by the Centre, Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao on Wednesday demanded that the BJP MPs from Telangana immediately resign from their posts if they are really committed to the development of the State. “The people of the State must chase them away if they do not show their committment,” he said.

Addressing the party rank and file at a dharna programme held at Bayyaram demanding that the Centre set up the steel factory in Bayyaram area in the district, he said the BJP MPs should resign if they can’t persuade the Centre to set up the steel plant.


In a scathing attack on the attitude of BJP leaders, he said: “We are categorically saying that the BJP government at the Centre failed to fulfill the promises made during the division of the State. If the BJP leaders prove otherwise, we are ready to resign from our posts. If the BJP leaders have guts, they should also be prepared to resign from their posts,” he challenged.

“People must drive away both the BJP and Congress party leaders for their failure. The BJP is trying to gain votes by dividing the people on the basis of caste and religion,” he said, adding that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, however, was trying to drive out the BJP that was ruining the nation by bringing together non-BJP parties to fight against the saffron party.

Stating that Bayyaram steel factory was the right of the people of State, Dayakar Rao said:. “Setting up a steel factory at Bayyaram is not like giving away alms.” He accused the BJP of unleashing a false campaign using social media platforms.

Mahabubabad MP and TRS district president Maloth Kavitha, ZP chairperson Angoth Bindhu, MLC Thata Madhu, MLAs Shankar Naik, Banoth Haripriya and others participated in the dharna.
