Ghatam procession to mark second day of Bonalu in Hyderabad

A vibrant Ghatam procession will mark the second day of the Old City Bonalu festival in Hyderabad on Monday. Featuring a caparisoned elephant and temple rituals, the event includes tight security, drone surveillance, and participation from over 25 temples

Hyderabad: A vibrant Ghatam procession will be taken out on the second day of the old city Bonalu on Monday.

A caparisoned elephant will carry the Matha Ghatam, of Akkanna Madanna temple, Hari Bowli. The procession will commence from Akkanna Madanna Mahankali Temple and will traverse through Nagalchinta, Shahalibanda, Charminar, Gulzar Houz, and Madina Building before culminating at Delhi Darwaza, Nayapul.Several tributary processions from nearly 25 temples will join the main procession.


The procession will feature immersion of ‘Mata Ghatams’ at the banks of Musi river near Nayapul temple.

To deal with any untoward incident, the police made elaborate security arrangements for the processions. Contingents of Rapid Action Force, City Armed Reserve, Quick Response Teams,  and local police will be deployed. The police are deploying drones to monitor the procession.
