On receiving information, the Ghatkesar police have reached the hospital to gather more information.
Hyderabad: The 19-year-old degree student — who allegedly misled the police recently saying she was kidnapped and gang-raped — died, allegedly by suicide, in Ghatkesar on Wednesday. Police suspect she ended her life by taking an overdose of diabetes and blood pressure pills.
According to the police, ever since the fake kidnap and gang-rape episode at Keesara and subsequently, the Rachakonda police confirming it to be a concocted story, the teenager was in deep mental agony.
“Due to the consequences, she was apparently depressed for the last few days,” said N Chandra Babu, Inspector, Ghatkesar, adding that on Tuesday afternoon, she took an overdose of diabetes and blood pressure pills of her father. She complained of not being well to her parents without telling them about the pills and was taken to a nearby government hospital, from where she was referred to Gandhi Hospital.
“She was treated there and was discharged late evening with doctors asking her parents to bring her again on Wednesday. She had not informed her parents or the doctors about the pills,” the Inspector said, adding that in the early hours of Wednesday, she is suspected to have again taken another overdose of the pills.
Her father, who grew suspicious as the pills were missing, got doubts when he saw foam from her mouth. She was rushed to the hospital where doctors declared her dead. Based on a complaint from her father, the Ghatkesar police booked a case of suicidal death.
“Based on the autopsy report and other scientific evidence, we will finalise the case,” the Inspector said.
It was on February 10 that the girl, reportedly due to family issues, decided to leave home, for which she allegedly staged a drama of being kidnapped and raped by auto drivers. However, within two days, the Rachakonda police found that the story was cooked up. The Keesara police were also contemplating booking a case against her for the false complaint.
