Hyderabad: In a two-day special drive on e-Waste collection, the GHMC had collected over 15 tons of electronic waste from across all its 30 circles.
The drive organised at 110 collection points across the city received a good response from citizens, recyclers, NGOs and Self-Help Groups (SHGs), the GHMC said in a press release.
At Jalagam Vengal Rao Park in Jubilee Hills GHMC circle, citizens handed over 450 kg of e-waste, which includes old mobile phones, laptops, chargers, keyboards and other electronic items. At Indira Park, Kavadiguda Circle, 510 kg of e-waste was collected, receiving Rs 20,874 in cash rewards.
The cash-back incentive proved to be a major draw, encouraging residents to responsibly dispose of their defunct electronic items instead of discarding them with regular waste. As part of the 99-Day Action Plan, similar e-Waste Collection drives will be conducted on April 11 and 12, and May 9 and 10, the GHMC said.
