GHMC collects over 2,500 furniture waste items in doorstep drive

Hyderabad: In a doorstep drive, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has collected 2,598 furniture waste items, including mattresses, sofas, tables, bookshelves and other waste material.
In a press release issued on Wednesday, the GHMC said the doorstep furniture pickup service continued to help citizens dispose of old and unwanted furniture in an environmentally responsible manner. The pickup service aims to build a cleaner, greener, clog-free Hyderabad by ensuring bulky waste reaches the right destination and not the streets or drains.
Requests were received from across the GHMC limits, and so far, 498 requests have been attended to. The collected items included 325 mattresses, 205 sofas, 142 beds, 48 cabinets, 38 tables, 25 bookshelves and 1,815 other furniture items.
“The GHMC is making every effort to complete the pickups as early as possible from the date of request. If the request has been pending for a long time, contact @GHMCOnline with the reference number and resolve it with the concerned team,” the press release said.
