Hyderabad: As part of the efforts to contain Covid-19 pandemic in the city, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has started a free Covid Care Centre in the eastern parts of the city. The centre, which is equipped with 90 beds and required facilities, is located at Krishnaveni Nagar, Kothapet.
In the pandemic times, several persons who test positive for Covid-19 find it difficult to isolate themselves due to space constraints in their homes or some other reason. With a view to assisting such persons, the civic body has converted a four-storied building into an isolation centre.
GHMC LB Nagar zonal commissioner Upender Reddy said those residing in the jurisdiction of Hayathnagar, LB Nagar and Saroornagar GHMC circles and are in need of isolation can avail the services at the facility. The centre has been started with the help of Ozone Hospitals, he said.
Five doctors, 12 nurses and support staff will monitor the patients round-the-clock at the centre. Ambulance facility, breakfast and two meals are some of the facilities provided at the isolation centre. Oxygen concentrators too are kept on standby, and each bed has an oximeter. In case of emergency, the GHMC has decided to rope in oxygen cylinders from nearby government hospitals
The centre also has an exclusive help desk to guide people. “We are also giving assistance pertaining to Covid-19 over the phone. People can dial 7075948108 to clear their doubts. Queries pertaining to the centre will also be answered,” said Reddy.
