Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has imposed a fine of Rs one lakh on Ramky agency for gross negligence in garbage lifting. The action was taken after officials observed lapses in the timely collection and disposal of waste in several areas.
“Anuraag Jayanthi, Khairatabad Zonal Commissioner, took the action after the agency failed to lift garbage (GVP) on Alijapur Road in a timely manner,” according to an official statement.
GHMC officials observed during daily inspections that garbage along Alijapur Road, near Karwan and Jubilee Hills circles, was left unattended for days, spreading across nearly 200 metres. This caused public inconvenience and unhygienic conditions. Despite repeated instructions, the agency did not act responsibly, forcing GHMC to levy the penalty.
GHMC warned that strict action will continue against negligence by sanitation agencies to ensure timely garbage clearance and safeguard public health, the statement added.
