Hyderabad: Following complaints about poor quality standards, officials from the GHMC food safety wing carried out inspections at 27 commercial establishments on Thursday, including retail storage and distribution or delivery points, and collected 36 samples.
GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan had directed the food safety wing to check food articles, storage facilities, and documentation of various delivery organisations operating through e-commerce platforms like Zepto, Amazon Fresh, InstaMart, Blinkit, Big Basket, Swiggy, Zomato, and others.
During the inspections, officials found violations such as food handlers without hair caps and gloves, food and non-food products being stored together, and absence of medical fitness certificates for food handlers. Notices were issued to rectify the lapses, a press release said, adding that the drive would continue further at retail storage and delivery points.
