Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), in collaboration with Google, is launching a generative artificial intelligence (AI)-based pilot project that will focus on finding sustainable solutions to key civic challenges to improve citizen services in Hyderabad.
Once successfully tested, the AI tool will be scaled city-wide. The pilot project will explore futuristic, tech-driven solutions to common urban issues and focus on creating a responsive and intelligent city administration, GHMC Commissioner R V Karnan said.
To this effect, a virtual meeting was held between representatives of Google and senior MA&UD officials including MA&UD Secretary Ilambarthi, Commissioner R V Karnan, IT Additional Commissioner Anuraag Jayanthi and others.
The AI-enabled systems will aim to improve GHMC citizen services, including an AI-based search bar for government websites, chatbots and AI search tools for government employees, a citizen enquiry classification system, blockchain-enabled verifiable credentials for G2C services, a tender evaluation system, smart parking management, and solid waste management optimisation.
Some of the other areas that Google’s AI systems will support GHMC in include real-time tracking of public buses via Google Maps, road safety and traffic models, Google Cloud APIs for FHIR-compliant health records, a citywide health analytics platform, and vector-borne disease detection and prevention.
