GHMC in Budget: 30 more flyovers, major spending on sewerage and water supply

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation is being given major allocations in the State budget presented by Finance Minister T Harish Rao.
The thrust is on infrastructure development, which will see another 30 flyovers and 18 foot overbridges being completed apart from the inauguration of a few other completed ones.

After the formation of Telangana, the State government developed infrastructure in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits enormously, the Minister said, adding that uUnder the SRDP programme, 18 important roads and flyovers were completed. Under the CRMP programme, a total extent of 530 kms in five routes was developed. Recently, new
flyovers were constructed near Owaisi junction and also at Shaikpet.
“In the ensuing financial year I am glad to announce that LB Nagar underpass, Tukaram Gate RUB, Bahadurpura flyover and another 30 flyovers and 18 foot overbridges would be
completed,” he said.
To treat sewerage of Hyderabad, an amount of Rs.3,866 crores is going to be spent and around the Outer Ring Road, the service roads are being expanded with an outlay of Rs 387 crore.
Regarding the measures taken up to boost the drinking water supply in the city and its peripheries, Rao said that the Sunkishala project was taken up with an outlay of Rs 1,450 crore. A provision of Rs. 725 crores was proposed in the budget for the same.
