Hyderabad: Mayor G Vijaya Laxmi along with various officials visited the newly-constructed Vaikunta Dhamam at Mallapur in Kapra circle on Tuesday. The new facility is equipped with various amenities to ensure a hassle-free process while conducting last rite rituals.
The model crematorium spread over 2.38 acre site has been built by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) with an estimated cost of Rs 1.98 crore. According to the officials, this crematorium in the eastern part of the city has several amenities on a par with the Vaikunta Mahaprasthanam near Whisper Valley, Jubilee Hills.
Unlike the regular crematoriums in the city, the newly-constructed one has amenities that will ensure that the grieving families conduct the last rite rituals in a hassle-free manner. An admin block, security room, ash storage room, three pyres, two bathrooms, three waiting halls, two ceremonial yards, wood storage and three platforms for pyres are the facilities in the crematorium.
Lush greenery, a fountain with a statue of Lord Shiva and clean pathways make this crematorium different from other such facilities in the city.
GHMC officials said cleanliness at the crematorium will be given utmost priority. “It will be monitored closely post-inauguration too and sanitation will be our top priority,” said a GHMC official.
