GHMC official caught by ACB while accepting Rs 35,000 bribe

The Anti-Corruption Bureau caught a GHMC official in Secunderabad for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe to process a retirement benefits file. The accused was arrested after accepting Rs 35,000 and produced before court for judicial remand.

Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials caught Surya Vamsi Santosh, Examiner in the Accounts Section of the GHMC Zonal Office, Secunderabad, on charges of demanding and accepting a bribe on Thursday.

ACB officials said Vamsi Santosh allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 40,000 from the complainant for processing and forwarding the retirement benefits file of the complainant to the Head Office, GHMC, for sanction.


He was caught while accepting the bribe amount of Rs 35,000 in his office. The bribe amount was recovered from him.

He was arrested and produced before the ACB court for remand in judicial custody.
