GHMC opens 12 Indiramma Canteens with Rs. 5 meals in Jubilee Hills

GHMC launched 12 Indiramma Canteens in the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency, serving Rs. 5 breakfast and lunch. With work on 50 more canteens underway and 77 planned in Phase II, around 30,000 people are expected to benefit daily

Hyderabad: The GHMC, which has proposed a total of 150 Indiramma Canteens across the city, on Monday launched 12 canteens serving breakfast and lunch in the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency.

Work on 50 canteens is in progress, while 11 canteens with permanent structures are under renovation. The remaining 77 canteens will be completed in Phase II.


Apart from continuing to serve meals at Rs. 5, these canteens will also offer breakfast for Rs. 5 to poor and needy individuals. For breakfast, three servings of millet idli, sambar, chutney and podi will be served. Other items such as pongal and mixture will also be available on the breakfast menu.

On average, around 30,000 beneficiaries will receive lunch daily at the Indiramma Canteens, which are equipped with seating arrangements, RO plants for drinking water and washbasins.
