Hyderabad: Hundreds of party workers are thronging the counting centres in the older parts of the city where counting of votes is progressing fast. A sizeable number are AIMIM party workers, followed by Bharatiya Janata Party workers.

Counting of votes is on at LB Stadium Boxing hall (Karwan circle), Mahaveer Institute of Technology (Santoshnagar) Aurora College ( Chandrayangutta), City College (Charminar), Sports Complex Amberpet (Malakpet), Kamala Nehru Polytechnic college Exhibition Grounds (Falaknuma) and Nizam college (Goshamahal) and Government Polytechnic College (Mehdipatnam) among other centres in the city.

The party workers and supporters are trying hard to gather first hand information on updates of the counting and sharing on social media platforms. The police are having a tough time in dispersing the gatherings as the crowd is swelling as the day progresses.

News of a few candidates of AIMIM including former Mayor Mohammed Majid Hussain (Mehdipatnam) winning was received with loud cheers, though these were yet to be confirmed officially.

The AIMIM party had contested from 51 seats of a total of 150 in the GHMC elections held on December 1.
