Hyderabad: Sanitation workers deployed at heritage sites by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) were provided with essentials, PPE kits and medicines, on Sunday.
The distribution which is being held at heritage sites for the last three days will continue for four more days. Ixora FM, the agency entrusted with the cleaning work, provided essentials to the staffers amid lockdown. Till date over 1,000 kg of rice, 500 PPE kits and other essentials have been distributed.
Special counters were set up at Charminar and at the transfer station located at Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS) to distribute essentials. The staffers ensuring sanitation at the heritage sites were also given training on hygiene and precautions that need to be taken against Covid-19.
The staffers at these heritage sites also took a pledge to keep the area clean after completing their duties. “Frontline workers are our pride and through the pledge, we want to send a message that the onus of keeping the city clean also lies with people,” said Krishan Chaitanya, director of IXora FM.
