GHMC takes up sanitation drive to check vector borne diseases
As a part of the exercise, all government hospitals treating Covid patients will be cleaned and sanitised to make sure patient attendants have a hygienic waiting area

Hyderabad: To contain the spread of Covid-19 and vector borne diseases, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is taking up an extensive sanitation drive in the city.
As a part of the exercise, all government hospitals treating Covid patients will be cleaned and sanitised to make sure patient attendants have a hygienic waiting area. While the sanitation works at Gandhi Hospital have been completed, other hospitals will also be attended to in a phased manner.
“Apart from sanitation drives, we have been instructed to identify places near hospitals to accommodate patient attendants,” said a GHMC official from the health wing.
On Tuesday, Mayor G Vijaya Laxmi along with GHMC Khairatabad zonal commissioner P Pravinya inspected the Government ENT Hospital in Koti apart from sanitation activities in Amberpet circle and Moosarambagh ward.
Meanwhile, it was decided that grievances posted on social media sites will be addressed on war footing. Revising staff attendance timings in morning, contingency plans pertaining to collection and transportation of garbage is also part of the exercise.
