Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on Sunday took up an intensive exercise of spraying disinfectants at educational institutions in the city.
In several government schools across the city, sodium hypochlorite was sprayed and on the request made by management of some private schools, a similar exercise was taken up there also by the GHMC Entomology wing staff. The schools covered today were located in Chandanagar, Gajularamaram and Uppal.
Meanwhile, ‘Every Sunday 10 Minutes at 10 am’ programme was also held in different parts of the city.
As part of the programme, people were sensitised on the importance of sanitation and the civic body officials explained to people the adverse impact of Dengue and Malaria. They also briefed about the healthy practices that need to be followed in order to prevent vector-borne diseases. Emphasis was on identifying places in houses and premises that can turn into mosquito breeding spots and informing people about the need to empty stagnant water regularly.
