GHMC to intensify dengue control measures across Hyderabad

GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan has directed officials to step up anti-larval operations in slums, schools, and hostels to prevent dengue. ELISA testing was made mandatory for fever cases. He also instructed officials to complete road repair works next week

Hyderabad: GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan instructed officials to implement comprehensive measures to prevent the spread of dengue in the city.

On Saturday, the Commissioner held a review meeting with health officials and said, “Medical officers should personally visit slums, homes, and apartments to conduct anti-larval operations in areas where stagnant water may lead to mosquito breeding.” He also directed that anti-larval operations be taken up in schools, colleges, and government hostels next week. Regular fogging should be carried out in government hostels every week. A special action plan should be prepared to prevent mosquito breeding in the Musi River and reservoirs, the GHMC official said.
