Hyderabad: Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi launched a floating trash collector (FTC) machine to remove water hyacinth and aquatic weeds from Banjara Lake in Banjara Hills on Wednesday.
Water hyacinth had spread extensively across the decades-old Banjara Lake, and the GHMC is using FTC machines to remove it and make the lake a clean water body.
As part of anti-larva operations, a drone was also used to spray larvicide liquid to control the mosquito menace in the lake area.
Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor said GHMC had launched anti-larva operations across the city and was conducting them four times in each ward to check the mosquito menace.
