GITAM University Hyderabad to honour Pad Man, nuclear scientist
GITAM University Hyderabad will award honorary doctorates to Arunachalam Muruganantham, nuclear scientist Dr B Venkatraman, and R Venkateswara Rao during its 16th convocation. Former NASSCOM President Kiran Karnik will attend as chief guest at the varsity campus in Rudraram on July 19.

Sangareddy: GITAM University Hyderabad will present honorary doctorates to three eminent personalities, including Arunachalam Muruganatham, who is well-known as the Pad Man of India, during the varsity’s 16th convocation ceremony. Arunachalam is known for his exceptional work in developing low-cost sanitary napkin-making machines, which were installed in rural parts of India.
The university will also present an honorary doctorate to well-known nuclear scientist Dr B Venkatraman. He is the former Director of the Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), Kalpakkam. The institute will also honour R Venkateswara Rao, founder and chairman of RVR Projects Private Limited, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to India’s infrastructure development.
Meanwhile, former president of NASSCOM, Kiran Karnik, will attend the convocation as chief guest on July 19 at the varsity campus in Rudraram, Sangareddy district.
