Hyderabad: Think of a book on commercial films in recent times, Nowpada Charan’s ‘The Commercial Cinema’ may come to mind. Now, the 19-year-old author has come up with his second book titled ‘Bombay Talkies’, which was launched by Telugu actor Vishnu Manchu recently.
Charan, a Bachelor’s student from Annapurna Studios, makes sure to use his time in the right way. This talented youngster finds inspiration in some real-life incidents and presents them in the form of fiction through his books. His works are available on Amazon and on Bluerose websites.
When asked how it all started, Charan shares, “I never thought I would be writing a book. I was actually working for short-films before the pandemic hit us. During the lockdown, when the whole world paused and we had no choice of going out, I thought of penning my thoughts and ideas into a book. After releasing the first book, my confidence boosted up and I thought of pursuing writing as a hobby.”
Charan’s debut book ‘The Commercial Cinema’ received immense appreciation and had sold over 800 copies worldwide.
Interestingly, Charan penned his second book ‘Bombay Talkies: Crime is the New Romance’ within 28 days. The fiction book revolves around a man called Shiva who moves from Hyderabad to Bombay to become a don of the underworld and run the country with better decisions. The book also features his romance with a prostitute-turned-actor Laila.
“I should thank JD Chakravarthy, actor and director, who helped me so much with his inputs and clarified all my doubts. I’ve texted him almost every day regarding every update and he praised each and every development as if it’s his own product,” shares a happy Charan.
The young author, who works on short-films mostly, shares that his ultimate goal is to become a feature film director. “I feel I need to do a lot of homework for that. Meanwhile, writing books and making short-films would definitely give me more clarity about the subject which I work on and help me in learning the process of research,” concludes Charan.
