At 11 am the river gauge reading was 43.90 feet. The water discharge was 9,20,657 Cusecs, informed Central Water Commission officials.
The level in river Godavari has been increasing due to rains in its upper catchment area and release of water from upstream projects.
There was a possibility of the river level increasing further and tahsildars were directed to shift the residents in the villages on the banks of the river to relief centres, said the District Collector D Anudeep.
A control room with telephone number: 08743-232444 has been set up at Bhadrachalam Sub-collector office, he added.
