Godavari Flood Plan: 20 relief centres to be set up in Bhadrachalam
District Collector D Anudeep directed the officials of concerned departments to complete the works allotted to them under Godavari Flood Management Plan at the earliest and be ready for a mock-drill to be conducted in July first week.
Kothagudem: A total of 20 flood relief centres are planned to be set up at Bhadrachalam to rescue people residing in low-lying villages in case of floods in river Godavari, District Collector D Anudeep said on Tuesday.
He directed the officials of concerned departments to complete the works allotted to them under Godavari Flood Management Plan at the earliest and be ready for a mock-drill to be conducted in July first week.
Anudeep held a meeting with the district officials at Sub-Collector’s office at Bhadrachalam to discuss the preparatory measures needed in the case of the floods in river Godavari.
By July first week, 10 relief centres have to be set up and they have to be fully furnished with all required facilities. Buildings with large built up space should be chosen to set up the relief centres so as to maintain physical distance as per Covid guidelines.
Food items sufficient for four months have to be procured and stocked at the relief centres. Every centre has to be equipped with drinking water, electricity and proper sanitation facilities, the Collector suggested.
Steamers, expert swimmers, medicines and equipment to remove the trees and electric poles uprooted due to floods have to be made available. Desilting of major drains in the town taken up and motor pumps should be kept ready to clear water logging at Vista complex, Kotha Colony and Ashok Nagar.
Pregnant women have to be shifted to health centres beforehand. Emergency medical kits have to be made available with every ANM and Asha worker. Steps to stop the spread of seasonal diseases have to be taken, Anudeep said.
