Hyderabad: A leak has occurred in the Godavari drinking water pipeline from Lingampally to Banjara Hills on Saturday, disrupting the drinking water supply to several parts of Hyderabad.

The HMWSSB, in a press release, said several areas, including Erragadda, SR Nagar, Ameerpet, Vengal Rao Nagar, Yellareddyguda, Sanathnagar, NIMS, Banjara Hills, Venkatagiri, BS Maktha, MS Maktha, and Somajiguda, faced disruption in water supply.

Emergency repair works were taken up to arrest the major leakages, the officials said, adding that the water supply would be restored as soon as the works were completed.

HMWSSB Managing Director K Ashok Reddy, who reviewed the leakage incident, instructed officials to supply water by tanker to areas affected by the disruption. He directed the officials to complete the work as early as possible and restore the water supply. Consumers in the affected areas were requested to use water sparingly.

Later in the evening, the HMWSSB said the work on water leakage was completed, and the water supply was resumed. The water board had meanwhile supplied tankers to the affected areas to avoid inconvenience to consumers.
