Siddipet: Following the request of the farmers from Siddipet district, the Telangana government has decided to release Godavari water from Mallanna Sagar into the Kudavelly stream for the benefit of the farmers.

Since the stream went dry due to prolonged dry-spell which also resulted in depletion of groundwater, the farmers, who had cultivated Yasangi crops, were suffering due to lack of water. When the farmers took up the issue with Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao with the help of Finance Minister T Harish Rao and MP Medak Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, the Chief Minister has ordered the irrigation officials to make arrangements to release Godavari water into Kudavelly. Harish Rao and Prabhakar Reddy will release the water from the Kondapochamma Canal of Mallanna Sagar at Kodakandla on March 19. It is the second consecutive year, the Telangana government is releasing the water into Kudavelly. The release of water will benefit the farmers of Dubbak Constituency.
