Golconda police rescued a 4-year-old girl kidnapped by an auto-driver and his ex-wife. Using CCTV footage and informants, the team tracked and arrested the suspects, ensuring the safe return of the child to her family

Hyderabad: The Golconda police, acting swiftly and using footage from surveillance cameras, rescued a kidnapped 4-year-old girl from the clutches of an auto-driver and his ex-wife.

According to the police, a woman resident of Saleh Nagar, Kancha, Golconda, had approached with a complaint of her daughter having gone missing after visiting her grandmother’s residence in the same area.

Following the complaint, the Golconda Police checked the nearby cameras and found a suspect in a burkha kidnapping the girl along with an auto driver. Nine special teams were formed to trace the girl and police, and after poring over the footage from CCTV and also tapping into an informer network, apprehended the auto-driver, Md Faiyaz, and his ex-wife, Samreen Begum.

According to the police, Faiyaz and Salma Begum, who had recently divorced recently established contact again and decided to live together. As this was not approved by Faiyaz’s parents, the suspects conspired to kidnap a child and show the baby as their own to gain acceptance.

As per their plan, they abducted the 4-year-old girl and fled in the auto. The police apprehended the suspects and, after rescuing the girl, handed her over to the complainant.
