Hyderabad: Following Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s appeal, donations of gold for gold plating of the Vimana Gopuram of the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple in Yadadri continued to pour in from different parts of the State with several politicians and businessmen announcing their donations on Wednesday.
Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Limited (MEIL) announced donation of six kgs gold. MEIL director B Srinivas Reddy said they got an opportunity to take part in the devotional initiative to carry out gold plating of the gopuram. “It’s a highly respectable chance for us to render service,” he said, adding that either gold or cheque would be handed over soon. Apart from MEIL, KNR Constructions MD K Narasimha Reddy and Praneeth Group MD Narendra Kumar Kamaraju donated two kgs gold each.

Prominent businessman S V Rama Raju donated one kg gold on behalf of Jala Vihar for the cause. “Our country is known for great emperors like Ashoka for tree plantation, Rani Rudrama for developing irrigation system, Raja Raja Chola for building temples and Krishna Deva Raya for preserving culture during various historical timelines” he said.
“Our Chief Minister has done all of them in less than a decade through Haritha Haram programme, Mission Bhagiratha, renovation of temple in Yadadri and performing Maha Chandi yagam,” he said, adding: “We thank him now for making us common people be a part of this divine endeavour.”
Donors from neighbouring Andhra Pradesh are also coming forward to donate gold. Industrialist and ZPTC Chairperson M Jayamma from YSR Kadapa district decided to donate one kg gold to the temple. She described the initiative taken by Chandrashekhar Rao to reconstruct the temple as a ‘yagnam.’
She said that she along with her family members would hand over a cheque to the Chief Minister during his next visit to Yadadri. She thanked the Chief Minister for relentlessly striving for the overall development of the temple and expressed happiness for contributing to the temple development on behalf of her family.
Jayamma said that she has strong belief in Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple in Tirupati and Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple in Yadadri.
