Hyderabad: Customs officials in coordination with their counterparts in Visakhapatnam seized 1.4 kg gold worth Rs 70 lakh and arrested two passengers at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Shamshabad on Friday.
Based on intelligence inputs, the Hyderabad customs nabbed two passengers travelling from Visakhapatnam to Hyderabad with foreign marked gold.
On thorough frisking of the passengers, it was found that they were carrying four cut gold biscuits two each of foreign marking in their trouser pockets.
It is believed that the gold was previously concealed in the aircraft by two other passengers, who travelled in the same aircraft from Dubai to Visakhapatnam. The two international passengers were also detained by the customs officials in Visakhapatnam. In all, the customs officials nabbed four persons in the gold smuggling case.
