Google-owned Fitbit has unveiled Fitbit Air, a compact and affordable fitness tracker designed to make wearable health technology more accessible to a wider audience. Priced at $99.99, the device combines lightweight design, AI-powered wellness features, and advanced health tracking capabilities in a minimalist, screenless form factor.

According to Fitbit, the new wearable was developed for users who find traditional smartwatches too bulky, complicated, or expensive. The company said Fitbit Air is intended to provide continuous health monitoring while remaining comfortable enough for all-day and overnight use.

Despite its small size, Fitbit Air supports several advanced health-tracking features, including 24/7 heart-rate monitoring, heart rhythm tracking with atrial fibrillation alerts, SpO2 monitoring, resting heart rate, heart-rate variability, and sleep-stage tracking.

The device works alongside the Google Health app and Google Health Coach, allowing users to access personalised health insights and workout recommendations through their smartphones while avoiding constant notifications on the wearable itself.

Fitbit said the tracker offers up to seven days of battery life on a single charge. Fast-charging support provides a full day’s battery backup in approximately five minutes.

The company has also introduced automatic workout detection, enabling Fitbit Air to recognise and track common exercises without manual input. Users can additionally start workouts through the Google Health app or manually log activities.

Fitbit Air features interchangeable bands designed for different use cases and fashion preferences. Options include the Performance Loop Band made from recycled materials, the sweat-resistant Active Band for workouts, and the Elevated Modern Band aimed at lifestyle users.

Fitbit has also partnered with NBA star Stephen Curry for a special edition model featuring a custom-designed Performance Loop Band with athletic-inspired detailing and water-resistant coating.

The device is compatible with both Android and iOS platforms and is now available for pre-order globally. Fitbit Air includes a three-month trial subscription to Google Health Premium. The special edition variant will retail for $129.99, while accessory bands will start at $34.99.
