Government given last chance to explain land allotment to congress leader’s children
The Telangana High Court has given the State Government a last opportunity to explain its stand on the regularisation of land allotted to the son and daughter of senior Congress leader K. Kesava Rao at allegedly low rates

Hyderabad: Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice G.M. Mohiuddin of the Telangana High Court on Tuesday gave the State Government a last opportunity to place its stand on the regularisation of land allotted to the son and daughter of senior Congress leader K. Kesava Rao at rates allegedly lower than the prevailing market value.
The Bench directed the Government to file an affidavit within three weeks, detailing the steps taken since the Court’s earlier order dated December 10, 2025, including whether any action was taken to cancel or amend the regularisation orders. The matter was adjourned to September 3.
The issue relates to the regularisation of 1,161 square yards in NBT Nagar, Banjara Hills, in favour of K. Venkateswara Rao at Rs 2,500 per square yard and 425 square yards in favour of former GHMC Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi at Rs 350 per square yard. The PIL was filed by Gadila Raghuveer Reddy, questioning the regularisation of the properties at rates allegedly far below the market value.
During the earlier hearing, the Court had observed that there should be equality in the application of the Government Order and had indicated that if the Government intended to proceed with the regularisation, the order should be amended to reflect the market value.
During Tuesday’s hearing, Additional Advocate General Mohammed Imran Khan sought four more weeks to place the Government’s stand. The Bench, however, expressed dissatisfaction and questioned what steps had been taken since December last year. The Court directed the Government to place the complete details on record and made it clear that this would be the last opportunity.
