Adilabad: A 28-year-old government teacher died, allegedly by suicide, at Srinagar colony here on Sunday. He was engaged to a girl a week back. The reason behind his extreme step is yet to be ascertained.

Mavala Sub-Inspector Vishnuwardhan said Banoth Santosh hailing from Venkatapur village in Neradigonda mandal and residing in Srinagar colony died by hanging. Santosh was working with a school at Jamidi village in Jainath mandal.

Santosh was found hanging when his parents broke open the doors of his bedroom in the afternoon when he did not come out till 2 pm. He locked himself in the room after having dinner on Saturday night. His parents were visiting his sister at the time of the incident. They returned when his sister informed them that Santosh was not responding to her calls.

Police suspected that Santosh either was not interested in marrying the girl to whom he was engaged recently or was depressed by some other problem. Exact reason would be known only after completing the investigations.
