Government to survey Musi riverfront encroachments, fast-track Metro expansion
CM Revanth directed officials to either allot double-bedroom houses or provided alternative housing for the eligible and emphasised the need for strict surveillance and protection of water bodies in Hyderabad from further encroachment.
Hyderabad: The State government will conduct a detailed survey of the Musi riverfront encroachment and collect details of the eligible poor living in the Musi catchment area, along with those encroaching tanks and nalas in Hyderabad. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy directed officials to either allot double-bedroom houses or provided alternative housing for the eligible.
During a review meeting here on Tuesday, the Chief Minister discussed the Musi Riverfront Development and the expansion of the Hyderabad Metro Rail. He emphasised the need for strict surveillance and protection of water bodies in Hyderabad from further encroachment. To prevent future floods, he wanted the officials to install CCTV cameras at all major water bodies and link them to the Command Control Centre for constant monitoring to prevent encroachments.
Revanth Reddy instructed officials to submit a detailed report on all ponds, lakes, and drains within the Outer Ring Road, along with their Full Tank Levels (FTL) and buffer zones. A full-scale report on the encroachments of these areas was ordered.
On the Hyderabad Metro Rail expansion, the Chief Minister wanted rapid progress, particularly on the Old City Metro route. He asked officials to resolve land acquisition and other obstacles, stressing the need to submit a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Metro expansion, from the airport to the upcoming Future City, to the Centre before Dasara.
