HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy directed the State Mining Development Corporation (TGMDC) to supply sand for construction works being taken up by different departments including Irrigation, R&B and Panchayat Raj, besides supplying to construction companies undertaking large-scale projects.

The Chief Minister emphasised that the government should supply sand at reasonable prices, which would make the consumers not to rely on illegal suppliers. He held a meeting with TGMDC officials here on Saturday and said that in view of the huge demand for sand in Hyderabad city and surrounding areas, the Mining Department should open sand stock points on three sides of the city. These sand stock points would help consumers, who purchase sand for small requirements, he said.

The Chief Minister warned that the State government would deal with illegal mining and unauthorised sand supply and other minerals with an iron hand. Stringent action against illegal mining was the only solution to generate more revenue, he stressed.
