Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy warned of stringent action against drug abuse and stated that the government would not spare influential persons, politicians and celebrities, if they were caught in drug cases in the State.

Inaugurating the Spandana Teams at Integrated Command and Control Centre here on Monday, he said that the big worrying factor was the drug addicts committing atrocities against women and girls. The police department established dedicated teams “Spandana,” ensuring their availability around the clock for the safety of women. The Spandana teams would also provide immediate psychological support and a sense of security to women in distress.

The Chief Minister said that Punjab witnessed the impact of drugs on the youth and the State was struggling to recover from the drug menace. Selling marijuana in small shops right outside schools in Punjab was a big worrying factor, he stated.

He appealed to the Peace committees to focus on drug menace along with campaigning on communal harmony. “Students should submit a self – declaration pledging no to drugs at the time of admission in the schools,” Revanth Reddy stressed.
