Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla called upon people to move forward with the ideals of tribal legend Kumram Bheem. He was the chief guest at the Kumram Bheem Jal Jangal Zameen Spurthi Gramotsavam-2026 held at Routa Sankepalli village on Friday. He was joined by former governor Bandaru Dattatreya.
Speaking on the occasion, Shukla recalled that Bheem had waged a war against the then rulers for rights over water, forest and land without owning an army. His supreme sacrifice exemplified self-respect and inspired the country. His movement for rights over water, forest and land was a testimony to the harmony between nature and humans. Nature protects the society that protects nature, he opined.
The Governor maintained that Routa Sankepalli was not just a village, but a holy place that symbolises heroism, sacrifice, self-respect and the culture of the Adivasi community. He urged the people to move forward with the ideologies of Kumram Bheem. He observed that protecting the culture of Adivasis was everyone’s responsibility. He noted that the event was aimed at promoting rural development, education and health.
Later, he distributed solar panels to tribal families from the village. He earlier paid floral tributes to Kumram Bheem by garlanding his statue. He also laid the foundation stone for a bronze statue of Kumram Bheem.
