Hyderabad: Governor, Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan on Saturday emphasised on the need to converge traditional knowledge and modern technology in agriculture to ensure sustainable farming and food security. She also highlighted the need to promote sustainable agriculture and to make agriculture profitable.
In her Chancellor’s address at the 5th convocation of Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU) held virtually, she said, “Research in agricultural universities is vital to make agriculture sustainable and also double the income of the farmers.”
She also applauded the university for setting up innovation centre and agricultural hubs to promote research, innovation and entrepreneurship in agriculture. Later the Governor conferred an honorary doctorate on Ramesh Chand, NITI Ayog Member and the chief guest at the event.
Students graduating from various courses received their certificates and medal winners also received their medals during the event which was also attended by PJTSAU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. V. Praveen Rao along with faculty members, staff, students and parents.
