Yadari-Bhongir: Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan on Saturday stressed the need to improve medical services in rural areas and focus on patient care needs to be based on high standard of sincerity and integrity in medical profession.
Attending as the chief guest to the White Coat ceremony of 2020-21 batch students of MBBS in AIIMS at Bibingar, Dr. Tamilisai said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi was keen on setting up of many medical colleges to make healthcare facilities accessible to the people of rural areas also. Ayushman Bharath, which was taken up by the Centre, was aimed at providing free access to health insurance coverage for low income earners in the country.
She narrated a few of her childhood experiences, how her mother was desperate to see her daughter wear the white coat with the stethoscope, which was fulfilled. Her keenness to serve people was so ardent that, she aimed to become a politician since her childhood, in the footsteps of her father. She advised the students to serve the poor people with humility. She praised the Prime Minister for opening the national level institute in the rural area ie Bibinagar.
Director of AIIMS, Bibinagar Prof. Vikas Bhatia informed that Bibinagar AIIMS consisted of 90 faculty members, 204 MBBS students of three batches, 119 nursing officers and 38 senior residents.
OPD services also commenced in AIIMS from June, 2, 2020 and served 78,894 patients till now. Despite the temporary building, everyone has been able to put up a team effort in taking the Institute forward. He informed that 750 bedded hospital with fully functional OPD, IPD, ICUs and AYUSH wings would be developed in Bibinagar AIIMS.
