Adilabad: The much anticipated visit of Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan to Adilabad, has been cancelled due to bad weather conditions. However, the 146th birth anniversary celebrations of Birsa Munda are going to be held at Keslapur village in Indervelli mandal on Monday. A member of national commission for Scheduled Tribes Anantha Naik will be chief guest of the event.
Elaborate arrangements were made for the Governor’s maiden tour to Nagoba temple where she was scheduled to perform special prayers before participating in the birth anniversary of the tribal legend and a darbar or grievance redressal programme at Keslapur. A helipad was arranged in Utnoor mandal centre.
Meanwhile, tribal rights organisations planned to mobilise a large number of ethnic tribes and to bring their challenges to the notice of Tamilisai. The cancellation of the tour disappointed the tribals who were expecting to pour out their problems including long pending Podu land and deletion of Lambadas from the list of Schedule Tribes to the governor.
