Karimnagar: BC Welfare and Civil Supplies Minister Gangula Kamalakar on Tuesday said the government was working towards developing Karimnagar as the second best city in the State after Hyderabad. To achieve the target, developmental works taken up under various programmes are being continued despite Covid-19 pandemic.

The Minister, accompanied by Karimnagar Mayor Y Sunil Rao, inaugurated an open gym at Saptagiri Colony here.

Kamalakar said people of the town had elected TRS twice in Karimnagar Municipal Corporation elections. To fulfill the promises made to the people, he and the Mayor were working hard to develop the town on all fronts by sanctioning funds, he said.

Listing out various developmental programmes, he said that smart roads, daily water supply, dumping yard maintenance, cable bridge modernizations, construction of check dams as part of the Manair river front project and others were continued.

Stating that supply of daily water has been continuing successfully without any interruption, he said the long standing dream of round the clock water supply was in the pipeline. If all goes well, the cable bridge being constructed across the Manair river would be inaugurated in the coming one and half month period, he informed.

Walking tracks and open gyms have been established in all 60 divisions of Karimangar corporation, he said and asked the people to utilize the facility. Moreover, people must practice yoga, and exercise besides daily walking in the wake of the corona outbreak.

Talking about the Corona outbreak, he expressed confidence that the district administration, which had successfully controlled the virus spurt in the first wave, would control it under the second wave too.

There was no shortfall of covid vaccine in the district, he informed and appealed that all eligible people must take vaccine to check the spread of the virus.

Clear instructions were given to private nursing homes against black marketing of medicines and serious action would be taken if any hospital indulges in such kind of unlawful practices.

People of the state were praying in their houses for the speedy recovery of the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. Public are able to see the Chief Minister in every scheme including Kaleshwaram project and others. With their blessings, Chandrashekhar Rao would overcome corona very soon, he hoped.

Deputy Mayor Ch Swaroopa Rani, corporation Commissioner Valluru Kranthi and others participated in the programme.
