Hyderabad: Backward Classes Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Monday informed that there was no proposal to release funds for the construction of BC Bhavans in the State during the current financial year.
Replying to a question raised by BRS member T Ravinder Rao in the Legislative Council, Prabhakar said the government does not have funds to take up construction of BC Bhavans across the State.
“This year it will not be possible to take up BC Bhavan construction. Government does not have funds. We want to construct the building with all the facilities and for that we don’t have enough funds in the current fiscal,”he said.
Ravinder Rao reminded that the Congress had promised to set up BC Bhavan in every district headquarters during the assembly polls, but now after coming to power it was going back from its promise. “BRS government had sanctioned 42 BC Bhavans in the State. We want the government to release funds for the construction of buildings,” he said.
Leader of the Opposition S Madhusudana Chary too criticised the government for not keeping its promise. “Congress has included the promise in the poll manifesto and now it is saying it does not have funds for it. This is nothing but cheating,”he alleged.
