Govt has released over Rs 8,300 crore under Palle Pragathi: Errabelli

Hyderabad: Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister E Dayakar Rao on Tuesday said the State government has released Rs.8,342 crore as grants to local bodies in rural areas under Palle Pragathi from September 2019 to January this year.
Under the programme, Rs.2,373 crore were released in 2019-20, Rs.3,694 crore in 2020-21 and Rs.2,275 crore were released till January in the current financial year, he said.
This financial year, Central government released Rs.682.50 crore under finance commission funds and the second phase funds were yet to be released, the Minister said.
Despite the delay by Centre in releasing the funds, the State government has been releasing Rs.227.50 crore every month as grants to local bodies in rural areas, he pointed out, adding for the month of February, the grants would be released in a few days.
To ensure comprehensive development of rural areas, the State government has been releasing Rs.227.50 crore monthly as grants. Of the Rs.227.50 crore, Rs.210.44 crore are released to Gram Panchayats, Rs.11.37 crore to Mandal Parishats and Rs.5.69 crore to Zilla Parishats, he said in a statement on Tuesday.
Soon after the grants were released to the local bodies, information was being shared with elected public representatives as a means to ensure transparency. While, in Gram Panchayats, SMS alerts were being sent to Sarpanches and Village Secretary’s, in Mandal Parishats, the Mandal Parishats presidents and officials get SMS alerts.
Telangana government was according top priority for development of rural areas and towards this, Palle Pragathi and several other programmes was being implemented. Unfortunately, a few people without proper knowledge and awareness, were deliberately defaming the State government, he said.
