Former Minister T Harish Rao talks to doctors at a private hospital over progress of Home Guard Gopal's recovery on Tuesday.
Sangareddy: Former Minister T Harish Rao along with Sangareddy MLA Chintha Prabhakar and other BRS leaders on Tuesday visited home guard Gopal, who sustained serious head injuries during a demolition at Malkapur Cheruvu near Sangareddy recently. Gopal has been in hospital since and according to doctors, requires speech therapy for at least four months to regain his speaking capabilities.
His family told Harish Rao that they had so far spent Rs.1 lakh on his treatment so far. No higher officials visited them in the hospital to enquire about him, they said, adding that not just Gopal, but home guards in the State had not received their salaries for the last four months.
Harish Rao said Gopal could not speak properly because he had sustained a serious injury on his head. After talking doctors over the progress of his recovery, he was told that Gopal would need speech therapy for four moths to attain full recovery. Holding the government responsible for his injury, Rao demanded the State government to extend all support to the family immediately besides bearing the expenses of his treatment. He also demanded that the government release the pending salaries for home guards without further delay.
Gopal had sustained the injury while the Revenue department was carrying out a controlled explosion of an illegal structure built in the Malkapur village tank. A large piece of debris that flew away from the explosion hit Gopal on his head, following which he had fallen unconscious with a bleeding injury.
