Hyderabad: The Telangana Gazetted Junior Lecturers Association-475 on Wednesday urged the State government to announce a schedule for transfers of junior lecturers and employees of the government junior colleges.
In a letter to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, association president Dr. V Srinivas and general secretary Dr. K Suresh complained that despite the government lifting ban on transfers, the Intermediate Education department has not yet announced a schedule, leaving staff under mental stress and anxiety.
The government, according to the association, lifted the ban on transfers of government employees via G.O. No.38, permitting employees in all government departments to apply for transfers from May 1 to 31.
The Education department has also issued an order regarding transfers under the department, it said, adding that so far, no transfer schedule has been announced for the Intermediate Education department.
Contract junior lecturers’ of the 2012 batch who got regularised in 2023 have been working in the same college for more than 16 years, it said, adding that this is forcing them to live away from their families and facing financial, mental, and health-related difficulties.
The association also urged the government to relax the three-year eligibility rule for transfers for the 2023 batch lecturers and instead implement a two-year eligibility condition. Further, they requested that the transfer cut-off date be changed to May 3, 2026.
